We are Rachel and Mark McClintick. We like working hard, living as light as we can on the earth, in as economical a manner as we can. We live in Hawaii on the Big Island, in the Puna district. We have 12 acres and we are currently harvesting apple bananas, cassava, guava, lilikoi, lemon, yellow pineapples, popolos, volunteer local cherry tomatoes, sweet potatoes. We look forward to when our avocado, blueburry, breadfruit, coconut, mountain apple, mango, mangosteen, mulberry, papaya, sapote, white pineapples, and taro (kalo) and tangerine trees will also bear fruit and we can harvest from them too! Every week we are planting more trees and plants! In addition, we are growing many varieties of microgreens.
We are living the off-grid lifestyle with solar electricity, catching water from our roof, and dealing with our own waste. We just bought a house in February 2023 and look forward to upgrades as we are able to afford them. In July, we upgraded the electricity so that we have outlets in every room, we can keep the fridge on all night, we have both a fridge and freezer (both chest type from Sundanzer), and… we can charge our electric car at home!
We currently have one guest bedroom with a soft memory foam queen bed. We would love to have YOU come stay with us!
Eventually, we look forward to building another dwelling place as well as a wedding chapel, more guest rooms, an art studio, a library, a home school, a vegan restaurant and a birthing center.
